15 Mar 2010 : Bowlers needed!!!
Bowlers needed!!!The first net session went well enough with about a dozen players turning up, but there weren't many bowlers - 1st team or 2nd team. If you think you should be considered for a bowling role in either team get to the nets and get some bowling done and get noticed. If you are a current bowler then get to the nets, get rid of the rust and get some bowling done, it doesn't do you or the team any good serving up aload of trash in the first few matches of the season, you may as well do that in the nets. Also it doesn't really help the batters, that turn up to practice, if all they are facing is bowling from other batters!!

It was a good turn out but it could be alot better.

There was only the first team skipper at practice...

10 Mar 2010 : New Player!
New Player! Now that i've got your attention, cricket nets start Sunday 14th March (Brooksbank School) 11am for 1 hour then every Sunday after that. Lets get as many people down as the more people the cheaper it is for the club, so start nagging all the players and have a decent practice then go to the pub afterwards to replenish all lost fluids!
Brett will be there(if not ill) so if you need new bat grip he can supply and fit them for a fee!

09 Mar 2010 : Stainland Award Winner
Stainland Award WinnerThe Halifax Cricket League awarded Stainland the most sporting club award. This award is made up from the umpires reports after every game, it just goes to show that although we don't win many games, we play the game in the correct spirit.
As stated in the MCC laws:
Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within its Laws but also within the Spirit of the Game. Any action which is seen to abuse this spirit causes injury to the game itself. The major responsbility for ensuring the spirit of fair play rests with the captains.

Well done to all the players, keep playing with the same respect for the game and its officials.

26 Feb 2010 : Preparation for the new season
Preparation for the new seasonSo it's that time of year, the start of a new season. Time to dust down the cricket gear(perhaps wash it from last match!! it was muddy), check the whites still fit!(any one needing new gear check the cricket supplies on the side menu, some really good bargains), get the bat sanded and oiled ready for some netting:details to follow, start getting ready for a hopefully not too damp season. There's a new skipper at the helm of the 2nds: Moz, and Will continues from last year in charge of the 1st's. So lets just try and get organised before 1315 on the first match of the season, we don't want "has any one got any spikes, mine have rotted", "anyone got a spare shirt, I seem to have lost mine".

We need to organise a clean up party to clean the changing rooms, tea facility etc. We had a really good response last year when we painted the pavillion, some new faces wouldn't go amiss. Any ideas let the club secretary know and then he can get people into clean up teams.

Anyway good luck to everyone for this new season,

and remember:

"If you fail to prepare then prepare to fail"
